Maximum Motorsports Solid Steering Shaft Installed

In early spring before the 2011 track season i installed a maximum motorsports solid steering shaft and solid steering rack bushings. I then was able to enjoy the benefits all summer at 4 track days. The install was very straight forward and would recommend the maximum motorsports solid steering shaft and solid steering rack bushings.

Maximum Motorsports Subframe Connectors Install

Last weekend we installed a set of Maximum Motorsports sub-frame connectors on my 2000 Mustang GT. I managed to mess up the sub-frame pretty bad over the last 5 years but we managed to get them installed. I’m really impressed with how much the ride quality was improved. I’m really looking forward to the track days this year to really see how much of improvement it has made. I recommend sub-frame connectors being your first modification to your mustang. It will save a lot of time and hassle. The one major problem we ran into is the bolts that hold the seat down, 3 of the 4 seat bolts broke off. We had to weld a nut on the opposite side of the bolt. We managed to get all of them out and MM provides replacements so everything came together after about 7 hours.

From H to X

I wasn’t very happy with the sound (tone and loudness) for pretty much all of last year. I finally decided to switch from a pypes h pipe to a mac o/r h pipe and so far im VERY happy. Sounds more like a mustang less like a truck. It’s not much of a difference at idle but driving is much better.

Spring is Finally Here!

Finally it has warmed up here in Ohio! I spent some time getting the car ready for another year. While changing the oil and checking everything over I noticed the belt was looking pretty rough so I made a trip to our local Advanced Auto Parts store to pick up a new one. Here’s a few pics.

Nelson Ledges Track Day 10/10/10

This was my first time at a road course and it was by far the most fun I have had in the car! I ran in group C all day which was the novice group. The first session of the day I made it about 4 -5 laps and was blacked flagged for smoking. Once in the pits we determined an incorrect install of an oil separator was causing the engine to not ventilate correctly and was pushing oil out of the oil pan gasket. We corrected the issue and I didn’t have any problems the rest of the day. In the video shows the last few minutes of the final session. I was pretty much alone on the track until a Porsche boxster  caught up with me.

Mustang Custom Brake Cooling Ducts Under $100

I decided to create/install brake cooling ducts on my 2000 Mustang Gt for the up coming track day at Nelson Ledges here in Ohio. I’m also upgrading to 13′ Brembo brakes that came standard on the 2000 Mustang Cobra R. I’m also flushing the brake system and using Motul RBF 600 DOT 4 brake fluid. Hopefully this can serve a reference for anyone wanting to install brake cooling ducts on their mustang.

NMRA 2010 – New best – 12.347 @ 117.3 MPH

I had anticipated the car running better this weekend at the track but had no idea it would have been this big of improvement. Brian at Dyno Tune Motorsports tweaked the tune last week and it was running much stronger.

Last run of the weekend I ran 12.347 @ 117.3. I picked up 6 mph! A lot of it was the tune, but I also got better shifting and experimented with the shift points.

Test & Tune National Trails Raceway 8.27.10

We headed out to NTR on Friday after work. First run was around 13.4 and the car was falling flat between shifts.

After a couple runs I managed a 12.865 @ 111.27 with a 1.938  60′. The car is still falling flat between gears hopefully some work on the tune will correct this issue.

This was the last run of the night.
